About the Event


The late Mrs Pita Annah Tshawane was born on the  13th September 1948 in Coville Village Hershel in the  Eastern Cape. She was the fifth and last-born child of  the late Mr Motheo Joseph and late Mrs. Mboitse Makalebelo Makhapha. She started her primary education at St Marry’s Primary  School, proceeded with her secondary education at  Mehlomakhulu Secondary School in the Eastern Cape  where she completed her Matric (Form five) in 1967.  She obtained her teachers certificate from Bensonville  College in 1969. She registered her nursing studies with  Lovedale College in 1972 in Alice Eastern Cape where  she met her husband: Rev Dr Joseph Nwamilorho  Tshawane while he was doing his theological studies  at Federal Theological Seminar. Proceeded to  complete her nursing training at Elim Hospital in  Limpopo in 1975. She completed her Midwifery studies  at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in 1977-1978.

 The late Mrs Pita Annah Tshawane started her  employment as a teacher at Bensonville in 1970 - 1971  at Eastern Cape Department of Basic Education.  She started with her nursing career at Chris Hani  Baragwanath Hospital in 1977. She worked also at  Soweto Community Health Centres/Koos Burgers  Clinic, Chiawelo Clinic, Diepkloof Clinic, Orlando  Clinic and Mandela Sisulu Clinic until her retirement in  2008. She was also trained and worked as HIV/AIDS  counsellor until her untimely death.

 Mrs Pita Annah Tshawane was fully devoted in serving  the Lord an active member of Evangelical  Presbyterian Church of South Africa (EPCSA)- Diepkloof  Parish. She participated in various leadership role at  EPCSA, being a chairperson of Rand Presbytery for six  years, national treasury for women’s guild for six years.

The late Mrs Pita Annah played a critical role in supporting her husband Rev Dr Joseph Tshawane from the inception of his ministry and leading in the following parishes of  the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Southern Africa  (EPCSA):  • 1977- 1980 – Chiawelo • 1981-1983 joined the husband in Richmond Virginia,  USA • 1984-1986 - Chiawelo • 1986 - Alexandra on Youth Ministry • 1990 – Diepkloof • Garankuwa • Tembisa • Vosloorus On the 14th December 1974, she married Rev Dr Joseph  Nwamiloro Tshawane, blessed with a son (Amukelani)  and a daughter (Foleni).  Mrs Pita Annah Tshawane was predeceased by her  daughter Foleni.  On the 21 December 2021 she was unexpectedly  admitted at Milpark hospital, she passed away early hours  on Christmas day, the 25th December 2021. She is survived by her husband: Rev Dr Joseph Nwamilorho  Tshawane, a son: Amukelani and three grandchildren:  Mativula, Ditebogo and Kamogelo. !!!ROBALA KA KHOTSO MONARENG , PHOFOOLO YA MANTILA - KONYANE!!
