Obituary of The Late Maud Sello Mukwevho (nee Ramaite)

Maud Sello Mukwevho (nee Ramaite) was the last born of eight children of the late Mr Mashau Silas and Mrs Evelina Mutoda Ramaite. She was born on the 19th of February 1936.

She commenced her primary education at Getrusburg Mission Christian School Tshitasini near Louis Trichardt. She then passed her standard 6 at Bethany Home Craft School. Thereafter, she attained her Matric through correspondence at Diepkloof Roman School. She obtained her Junior Teachers Certificate at the Vendaland Training Institute in 1957.

She started teaching at Dopeni Primary school in Nzhelele, Venda. In 1960 she taught at Dzata, then still a primary school in Meadowlands. She was one of three teachers who started teaching at Tshilidzi Primary school in Chiawelo, they were the ones who were honoured with naming the school. In 1961 she taught at Dzata Primary School until she was transferred to Livhuwani Primary school in Meadowland’s zone 8. She was one of the teachers who named Livhuwani Primary School. She worked at Livhuwani till she retired in 1999.

In 1958, she married the late Daniel Mukwevho, and they were blessed with two sons, Peter Mulandu and Donald Takalani Mukwevho who are also late.

She was a staunch member and a Church leader of Tshilidzini congregation, which is part of West Meadowlands Parish, Lutheran Church. She was an active member of the West Meadowlands Prayer Women’s League under Soweto Circuit and a member of Interdenominational churches. She was a valuable member to the church and the league.

She will be sorely missed and remembered by her grandchildren, Eveline Mangoma and Thendo Mukwevho, her great-grandchildren, Ronewa and Okhethwa Mangoma and all her Siblings Children and their grandchildren.
